About
A long-term bet on downtown Lewistown.
Mike Buffington has spent more than 35 years building businesses and restoring buildings in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. He bought his first rental property, a duplex in Lewistown, right after high school. In October 1996, before he turned 22, he founded One-Stop Communications.
Thirty years later, One-Stop is a locally owned provider of fiber and wireless internet, phone, TV, mobile and managed IT services across Mifflin County. A merger with Mifflin County Wireless and Telecentive, the companies founded by Cody Wian, brought the businesses together under one roof at 101 East Market Street. Mike and Cody are co-founders of One-Stop as it exists today. Cody leads the company as CEO and President, and Mike serves as co-owner and CFO.
As founder and principal of Buffington Property Management, Mike oversees 17 buildings: more than 200,000 square feet of commercial and mixed-use space and nearly 29,000 square feet of residential property. For the past decade his focus has been downtown Lewistown, where he buys buildings others had given up on and brings them back. Projects include Monument Square Center, the 1929 Art Deco Montgomery Ward building on Monument Square; a $1.5 million renovation of 19 South Brown Street after more than 15 years of vacancy; and the current restoration of 13 and 15 East Market Street as the new home of The Square Cafe & Bakery, which earned a Pennsylvania Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credit in 2026. Five of his commercial buildings now run on rooftop solar. Beyond Lewistown, he owned MAT Plaza, a retail and office center in Huntingdon, for 17 years before selling it in 2026.
Mike joined the boards of Juniata Valley Financial Corp. and The Juniata Valley Bank in 2017 and now serves as Vice Chairman. He is also a board member of Downtown Lewistown Inc. and the Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the Community Advisory Board of Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
He is a contributing author to two #1 Amazon bestsellers, Success Habits of Super Achievers and Desire, Discipline & Determination, where he shares how he worked through a learning disability and the people who helped him along the way. His honors include Ambassador of the Year from the Juniata Valley Area Chamber of Commerce; Business Family of the Year from the Senate of Pennsylvania and the Mifflin County Farm Bureau; and recognition from PA Business Central as one of its Top 100 People and 4-Most Under 40.
Away from work, Mike is a licensed pilot who still flies whenever he can. He is the original founder of the MC Flying Club and serves as its treasurer. He is also an avid cyclist who once rode 330 miles from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. He and his wife live in Mifflin County, and their son is in college in Pittsburgh.
